I tried to open a. A must have for TV dvb-t recording and viewing. Install is a breeze just as it should be. It's great but, sometimes it cannot handle all files - than i have to use VLC. But interface is much better than VLC. Getestet in Ubuntu Some distributions like Ubuntu have packaged some of these firmwares into a package like "linux-firmware-nonfree".
Try sudo apt-get install linux-firmware-nonfree 4. Player installieren: Koffeine enjoy! Synced regional channels - like on a normal TV, and that's it. Just perfect! Player does not play a lot of formats. This is unacceptable. I suppose it should be removed from mint repo. I use it for my Satellite-TV-Reception. Works perfect, but has a few features which cold be bettered, especially in tuning with more than 1 satellite.

Chat Room. ISO Images. Kaffeine can keep track of multiple playlists simultaneously, and supports autoloading of subtitle files for use while playing video. Latest reviews. While the basic functionality is useful enough for someone who wants a simple, yet powerful media player, the best feature in Kaffeine is to use it as a GUI frontend to watch and record digital TV.
Since Kaffeine version 2. Extending its support for newer digital TV standards is now simpler.
Setting the TV configuration on Kaffeine is as simple as open the Television item from the menu bar and select the Configure Television A pop up window will open, allowing setting the parameters to be used:. The General Options menu allows setting the device-independent settings.
The Recording folder sets the location where all TV program records will be stored. The xmltv file name optional specifies a file name with EPG data that was retrieved via an external grabber.
The Time shift folder is used in conjunction with the pause button of the media player screen. When the button is pressed, a time shift file will be stored at the location pointed by this menu option.
So, it actually starts recording a few minutes before the Start time defined in the Program Guide. The exact amount of time before is defined via Begin margin. Kaffeine extends the record by the amount of time defined by End margin after the end of the program. The Naming style for recordings option is used to setup how Kaffeine will name a program.
Several macros can be used to dynamically change the name of the record:. The Action after recording finishes option is used to setup an optional command to be executed when Kaffeine stops recording a program. Kaffeine uses a file called scanfile. This file is kept in sync with the contents of the dtv-scan-tables treemaintained by LinuxTV community.
For more details, please see the dtv-scan-tables wiki page. When the button is clicked, Kaffeine will download the latest version of the channel definitions and store on a user-specific local data file, overriding any contents of a previous one. Please notice that, in order to use the newest definitions, it is required to close the TV configuration dialog and reopen.
The Edit scanfile option allows editing the file, which can be useful to add a new set of channels, while the upstream file is not updated. If you need to use it, please consider sending an update to dtv-scan-tables for others to also benefit from the new channel definitions.
If not set, it defaults to using ISO encoding. If set, the default changes to ISO The Create info files to accompany EPG recordings option enables the creation of ancillary files for scheduled records with the contents of the program guide for records made via the Program guide. However, some of them use non-standard encodings for those data.
Other providers just don't fill the EPG data, or the information there is not reliable. Since Kaffeine 2.
You can now set an external parser to produce a file with EPG data, and use the xmltv file name optional to specify the file name of the produced file. When a change happens, it will open the file and parse its contents, updating EPG data accordingly. It should be noticed that the XMLTV file has a table with associates its own internal representation for channels with the expected channel name at the digital TV broadcasted data.
Kaffeine will only retrieve the EPG data if the channels there match the ones inside Kaffeine 's channel list. So, you need to ensure that the channels there matches what Kaffeine expects.PPA's are the only way to get Hauppauge drivers updated in Ubuntu between distro releases. PPA installation video with Ubuntu. This page provides a few suggestions on how to test that a properly installed DVB device 1 is functioning correctly.
The command line steps described are also indispensable for quick setup and no frills viewing with DVB hardware under Linux. The following table lists the main features of the different command line DTV testing utilities. For specific information on usage, have a look at its specific wiki article. Obtain the dvb-apps package See the LinuxTV dvb-apps article for details on how to obtain the package. The dvb-apps package contains several useful tools. Scan for the channels you can receive Refer to the dvb scan article for details of how to perform this step.
Once familiar with the content of that article, you will recognize that this step can be summarized in general form by:. Note that you may have both a program scan and dvbscan installed on your system, and only one of them may work.
Tune a frequency and program Refer to the zap article for details of how to perform this step. Otherwise, you cannot record data from dvr0. If you have more than one dvb device installed in your system, then you will have to pass the correct adaptor number. See the MPlayer article for some further information, as well as the MPlayer man page i. An example of output from dvbtraffic is:. In this case, for the frequency that has been tuned, PID 0x is for the video stream of an HDTV channel and PID 0xb is for the associated audio stream both of these have been highlighted in red in the above output for easier visual identification.
These PID values presented by dvbtraffuc are in hexadecimal form and need to be converted to their decimal representation respectively, and for use in a channel. This is the line you would create in the file "channel. If the testing steps in the dvb-apps section above work fine, you can jump over this section here. On the other hand, dvbsnoop is a small, down-to-earth utility that is very handy for debugging and also seeing what is occuring with a dvb device i. Obtain the dvbsnoop package See the dvbsnoop article for details on how to obtain the package.
This will give out a lot of numbers, but if you understand the system of DVB you should see if they make sense. Go for one of the PIDs choose a right one which is a bit difficult as you don't know what they stand for unless you used the scan line above and try:. The handy thing about digital TV is, it comes in as a digital stream that you can save right away to your harddisk without any changes necessary to it. There are several ways to do this. For example:. The result is that particular program stream will be written to disk, and you should be able to play it back at any later time with your favourite media player.
Method 1 : First tune into a channel, as described above in the zapping step, and then next have dvbstream save a particular stream to file.
So this is why it's important that you have your personal channels. If the file is rather small, e. Watch out, some PIDs come up a few times but for different frequencies. This might not be what you wanna do every day unless you only watch BBC1 or you can easily memorise all your channels with their two PIDs - but it's very fast and easy to do these steps for testing purposes. My Manjaro is on Kernel 5. Only 3 weeks before, I switched from Xubuntu to Manjaro.
Therefore I do not believe, that Haupauge TV stick could be faulty. It results in an error message, saying, that the update of scan data was not successfull. I did a comparison with latest file, accessible via LinuxTV and it seems, that the default scanfile.
Next is of course, to select the local TV provider and do a scan of the accessible TV channels. The scan time is realistic with about 1 minute per scan. Additionally to my desktop PC, I have two laptops with Manjaro, same Kernel and update versions as above. They all show the same behavior as my desktop. The above described behavior kept the same even after de- and reinstalling kaffeine.
I am a beginner with Linux and my abilities to do more, than I have described above, is very limited. I hope, I get some helpful hints to get rid of this problem. The unexpected behavior could be any number of things and I have no idea as I am not a user of neither Kaffeine nor KDE. I think your statement is in contradiction to the fact, that Kaffeine is in the official manjaro repo and part of "community" software.
There are quite a lot other apps in the official repo which is also KDE based, like Kdenlive, which I am running without any problems. I have already tried to discuss the Kaffeine case in the German Manjaro forum, but it seems, that no one was able, to respond with enough expertise.
Usually the 'warnings' are not fatal to the application - so the messages could be classified as harmless as they don't break the app. But here I see the word mandatory which indicates this could be breaking your application.Messenger admin hack
Sometimes - when a local user configuration is not updated - the user have had run the application using sudo - then the user configs are owned by root and thus not writable by the user anymore - despite the configs being in the users home.
The said application being available in community repo - which for the most part is inherited from Arch repos - does not indicate that said application is flawless or merit one to expect it is. I am not trying to insult you or claim you are doing something wrong - I merely go into the conversation with my experience in general troubleshooting - asking questions - but as I have never used a TV receiver on any system - I can be of little help in that regard.
But as you state - you have been able to use run it in a stable manner using another variation of Linux - and you have engaged the German speaking forum - without reaching a solution - I think it is a niche - a corner issue - which is hard to solve without any actual hands on. If the functionality of your TV receiver is of great importance to you - and you cannot find a solution on getting it to work on Manjaro - the only real solution is going back to Ubuntu.
Thank you very much for your quick reply! No question: I appreciate much your expertise. But til now I thought, that all apps, which are in the main repo are checked by the maintainers concerning dependencies and compatibility with actual manjaro release. If you need more technical information on a device, have a look at its specific wiki article.Kutoka vipele pembeni ya kuma

Please help to keep these lists up-to-date so that they are useful for everyone! Note: when it comes to support, it is generally a good idea to try the current V4L-DVB sources because some device drivers can be very new and thus may have not made their way into the mainstream kernel. In any regard, in respect to the above listed suggestions, you may find it to be the case that your device is actually already supported or that experimental support is available.Mg td wood dashboard
Because the component constitution on many devices are often similar or identical, there may be devices that are unlisted but may actually work with the existing driver framework for previously supported devices. In such a case, your non-listed but working device will likely be reported in your system messages as being one of those previously supported devices.
